Strictly necessary storage
These are set by Trendora, stay on your device, and are never transmitted to us or to anyone else. Strictly speaking they are not cookies at all — they use your browser’s localStorage and sessionStorage, which are not sent with HTTP requests. We list them here anyway, because you deserve to know what is being written to your machine.
| Key | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|
trendora_cart | Remembers what is in your basket between page loads and visits | Until you clear your cart or your browser data |
trendora:last-order-id | Carries your order number from checkout to the confirmation screen | Until you close the browser tab |
No consent is required for these, because the site cannot provide the service you asked for — a shopping cart — without them.
Advertising cookies (Google AdSense)
Trendora displays advertising served by Google AdSense on its content pages. These ads are how the site’s buying guides and product research are paid for.
To serve them, Google and its partners set cookies on your device. Specifically:
- Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads on this site.
- Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to Trendora and/or other sites on the internet.
- The main identifiers involved are Google’s
__gadsand__gpicookies, and identifiers set on thedoubleclick.netdomain. Their lifetimes are set by Google, typically 13 months, and are outside our control. - These cookies may be used for frequency capping (not showing you the same ad ten times), for aggregated reporting, and for personalising which ads you see.
We do not read these cookies. Trendora receives aggregate revenue reports from Google; we cannot see which ads you were shown or tie them back to you.
Which pages set which cookies
This distinction is enforced in our code, not left to configuration. Advertising is loaded only where there is substantial content of our own to sit alongside it.
| Page | Cart storage | Advertising cookies |
|---|---|---|
| Homepage, category, collection, product pages | Yes | Yes |
| Cart, checkout, order confirmation | Yes | No |
| Search results | Yes | No |
| Policy pages, About, Contact, FAQ | Yes | No |
How to control cookies
- Turn off personalised ads: visit Google Ads Settings and switch off ad personalisation. You will still see ads; they will simply be chosen without reference to your browsing history.
- Opt out across many vendors at once: use aboutads.info/choices or the NAI opt-out tool.
- Block cookies entirely: every major browser lets you block third-party cookies, or all cookies, from its privacy settings.
- Clear what is already there: clearing site data in your browser removes both our storage keys and Google’s cookies.
What breaks if you block them
Blocking advertising cookies: nothing breaks. Ads become less relevant. The site works exactly as before.
Blocking all storage for this site: your cart will empty on every page navigation, and the order confirmation screen will not be able to show you your order number. Checkout itself will still work, and your order will still reach us.
Questions about anything on this page go to tendora@gmail.com. What happens to the data these cookies generate is covered in our Privacy Policy.
